【摘要】:Sieveanalysesarecarriedouttodeterminetheparticlesizedistributionofpowderswhich,inturn,areusedtoqualifythosematerialsastotheirusefulnessintheprocessunderconsideration.Sinceparticlesizeanalyseshaveonlyrelativesignificance,theresultsshouldbeconsideredonlywheretheycorrelatewithprocesscharacteristics.Theparameterthatisbeingmeasuredinthistestistheamountofmaterialthatwillpassthroughaclothhavingtheoreticallysquareopenings.Itmustberememberedthatalltheholesarenotsquare,noruniforminsize,andthequestionofwhetheragivenparticlewillgothroughisastatisticalone.Sinceeachparticlesizeanalysismethodmeasuresauniquephysicalparameter,theresultsfromonemethodmaynotagreewiththosefromanother.Particlesizedistributionsplayaroleinsuchpropertiesasbulkdensity,dustiness,andhandlingcharacteristics.Careshouldbetaken,however,wheninterpretationsaremadefromoneortwopoints(sieves)onthedistributioncurve.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheparticlesizedistributionofnonplasticceramicpowderssuchasalumina,silica,feldspar,pyrophyllite,nephelinesyenite,talc,titanates,andzirconusingwireclothsieves.1.2Materialscontainingalargeamountoffines,containingagglomerates,orthatarenonfree-flowing,arewet-sievedtoremoveexcessivefinesortodisperseagglomeratesbeforeperformingthetest.Thistechniqueisnotapplicabletomaterialsthatare,toanydegree,watersoluble.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
